The problem

A bad startup brand
is an expensive tax

Founders underestimate how much weak branding costs them. It is not just aesthetics. Bad branding is a friction layer on every conversation you try to start, every introduction you try to convert, every term sheet you try to negotiate.

01

Warm intros die in inboxes

An angel investor forwards your deck to three peers. They click your site, see a generic logo, an off-the-shelf template, and stock photography. The reply is silence. The warm intro burns out before the first meeting.

02

Valuations get quietly haircut

Investors price perceived execution risk into the term sheet. A startup that cannot ship a coherent brand looks like one that cannot ship a product. Founders lose two to four turns of valuation before negotiation even starts.

03

Hiring becomes harder

Senior operators evaluate startups the same way investors do. If your careers page looks like a hobby project, the engineer you want as employee number four takes the offer from the better-branded competitor.

04

You compete on price, not vision

Without a brand that signals premium positioning, customers default to comparing you on cost and feature lists. A real startup brand earns the right to charge what your unit economics actually need.

What you get

Everything a founder
needs to launch

A complete brand identity for startups, delivered as a coherent system. Not a logo and a coloured rectangle. A working brand.

01

Brand strategy document

Positioning, audience definition, brand archetype, competitor map, value proposition, and category point of view. The strategic foundation every visual and verbal decision flows from.

02

Naming (when needed)

A structured 50-name shortlist with linguistic checks across your target markets, trademark pre-screen against existing registrations, and a domain availability matrix. Final three names presented with rationale.

03

Logo and visual identity

Primary mark, secondary lockups, monogram, favicon, light and dark variants, and reversed versions. Full vector source files in Illustrator and Figma. Commercial rights transferred outright.

04

Brand guidelines PDF

40 to 80 pages covering logo usage, clear space rules, colour systems, type hierarchy, photography direction, iconography, voice and tone, and a do-and-do-not gallery built around real applications.

05

Messaging framework

Tagline, elevator pitch, audience-specific value props, brand story long and short form, and a vocabulary list of words your brand uses and avoids. Written for both investor decks and customer-facing copy.

06

Templates and applications

Social templates for LinkedIn, Instagram, and X. Investor deck and pitch deck templates in Keynote and PowerPoint. Email signature, letterhead, and one-pager. Packaging concepts if your category needs them.

A founder's take

Bad branding kills warm intros
and quietly haircuts your raise

Most founders treat branding as a cosmetic layer applied late in the build. It is not. Branding is the single most efficient lever a pre-seed or seed-stage startup has to move perceived execution risk in their favour, and perceived execution risk is the single largest input to your valuation.

"A coherent founder brand has measurably saved my clients twelve to twenty-four months of fundraising runway. A weak one has cost them rounds."

Here is the uncomfortable math. The average seed deal closes after roughly 60 to 80 investor conversations. The average top-of-funnel hit rate for cold investor outreach is around 2 to 4 percent. Warm intros convert at ten times that rate or better, but only if your brand survives the first click. If a forwarded intro lands on a site with a generic logo, copy that reads like it was written by ChatGPT in five minutes, and a deck template anyone with a Canva account could have built, that warm intro converts at the cold rate. You just burned the most valuable asset a fundraising founder has.

A real founder brand does three specific things. First, it signals taste, investors back founders who demonstrate judgment, and brand is the most legible judgment signal that exists before product-market fit. Second, it gives every introduction a soft pre-qualification: by the time the meeting starts, the investor has already decided the brand is "fundable-looking." Third, and most importantly, it gives the founder permission to charge premium prices and recruit senior people, which fixes the unit economics that fix the next round.

The cost of getting this wrong is not the design fee you saved. It is the round you did not close, the senior hire you did not land, and the eighteen months of additional runway you now need to raise on worse terms. We have watched this happen to founders who came to us second, after the first attempt failed. The fix is straightforward, but the lost time never comes back.

Process

From founder
interview to launch

Five stages, transparent timeline, fixed delivery dates. You see work at every stage. No black box, no surprise reveals at the end.

Stage 1 · Day 0

Discovery workshop

90-minute founder interview. We map your origin story, your conviction, your customer, your category competitors, and the brands you secretly want to be compared to. This is the raw material everything else is built from.

Stage 2 · Days 1-3

Brand strategy

Positioning statement, audience definition, brand archetype, voice and tone direction, and three creative territories presented as written briefs. You pick the territory before any pixel is drawn.

Stage 3 · Days 4-10

Identity design

Logo system, colour palette, typography, iconography, and photography direction. Two rounds of revision built in. Live Figma file so you can leave comments instead of typing emails.

Stage 4 · Days 11-16

Guidelines and applications

Brand guidelines PDF, editable Figma source, social templates, deck templates, and any tier-specific applications. Built to be picked up by a new hire on day one and used without asking.

Stage 5 · Days 17-21

Launch and handover

Final file pack delivered in every format you need. 60-minute handover call with your team. 30 days of follow-up support included for any clarifications or extra cuts.

Pricing

Three tiers. Fixed price.

Choose the tier that matches your stage. Upgrade mid-project if scope changes. No hourly billing, no surprise invoices.

Why Avvale

Built by a founder,
for founders

There are cheaper places to get a logo. There are no cheaper places to get a brand a serious investor will respect. Here is the difference.

01

300+ brands across 30 countries

We have shaped brands for fintech, consumer goods, deep tech, SaaS, hospitality, and regulated industries. Real range, real scar tissue, real pattern recognition for what works in your sector.

02

In-house designers, never outsourced

Our brand team works from our London studio. No freelance marketplace, no offshore handoffs, no white-labelled middlemen. The designer on your kickoff call is the designer building your brand.

03

Founder-aligned, founder-reviewed

Muhammad Tayyab Shabbir personally reviews every brand strategy before it is presented and signs off every final identity before it ships. You get a founder's eye on your founder's brand.

04

Fundraising-fluent

Our clients have raised over $120M between them. We know what investors look for in the first ten seconds of a deck because we have helped build the decks that closed the rounds.

05

No AI logos, ever

Generative tools have a place. Designing the visual face of your company is not it. Every logo, every system, every guideline is built by a human designer with a CV you can read.

06

Fixed price, fixed timeline

Branding projects famously drift. Ours do not. Every tier has a written delivery date, a fixed fee, and a sign-off process that gets you to launch on schedule.

Consumer Beauty

Yuty: From idea to retail-ready brand in five weeks

An AI-powered beauty discovery startup needed a brand that would land equally well with retail buyers, beauty editors, and Series A investors. Avvale delivered full brand strategy, naming validation, identity system, packaging concept, and a launch deck template. The team raised follow-on capital within six months and landed a national retail listing the same year.

Fintech

AIO Bank: A neobank brand built to look bigger than it was

A pre-launch challenger bank needed an identity that signalled regulatory credibility to investors and approachability to retail customers. Avvale built the brand strategy, identity system, 60-page brand book, and complete pitch deck. The founders walked into seed conversations with a brand that read like a Series B incumbent and closed their round at a multiple of their initial target valuation.

Investment Firm

Lurra Capital: Repositioning a boutique fund as institutional-grade

A boutique investment firm raising its second fund needed a brand that signalled institutional discipline to LPs without losing its founder-led character. Avvale rebuilt the visual identity, rewrote the messaging framework, and shipped a fully designed LP deck and pitch book. The firm closed its target fund size three months ahead of plan.

FAQ

Common questions

Identity Sprint runs one calendar week, end to end. Full Brand is three weeks. Bespoke runs six weeks or more depending on how many applications, naming rounds, and packaging items are in scope. Every project has a fixed timeline written into the brief on day one. No drift, no surprise extensions.
Naming is included in the Bespoke tier as a structured 50-name shortlist with linguistic checks, trademark pre-screens, and domain availability. For Identity Sprint and Full Brand, naming can be added for a fixed fee. If you already have a name you love but want a second opinion, we will pressure-test it on the discovery call for free.
You receive the full file pack: vector source files in Adobe Illustrator (.ai) and Figma, scalable SVGs, high-resolution PNGs with transparent backgrounds in every lockup variation, plus a print-ready EPS and favicon set. Light, dark, monochrome, and reversed versions are all included. You own the files outright with full commercial rights.
A polished PDF document, typically 40 to 80 pages depending on tier, plus an editable Figma source file so your designers and marketing hires can pull assets directly. The PDF covers logo usage, colour systems, type hierarchy, photography direction, voice and tone, and a do-and-do-not gallery. It is the document we expect a brand new hire to read on day one and immediately know how to build on-brand.
Yes. After the project ships, you can either book ad-hoc design hours at a fixed rate or move onto a monthly retainer for ongoing applications: deck refreshes, social campaigns, packaging revisions, web banners, investor updates. Most clients move to retainer after raising their seed or Series A.
We do not file trademarks directly. We do pre-screen names and marks against existing registrations in your target markets so you do not invest months into a brand that cannot be protected. For the actual filing, we hand you a clean dossier and introduce you to one of three trademark partners we work with in the UK, EU, and US.
Yes, and that is the whole point. A startup brand has to do double duty: signal credibility to investors in a 30-second deck flip, and feel native to your customer when they land on the product. We build the strategy around both audiences from day one. The output is one coherent brand, not two.
Our in-house design team in London. No freelancers, no offshore studios, no AI-generated logos. Every brand is reviewed personally by Muhammad Tayyab Shabbir before it ships. If you want to know who is touching your brand, we will introduce you to the specific designer assigned to your project on the kickoff call.
