Fire Ratings, Permits & Legal Requirements

United States

UK founders often underestimate how much the Part E testing requirement bleeds into their own product development timeline β if you want to market a panel or batt as suitable for party wall or floor specification, you need a tested assembly result, not just a product-level fire rating, and that testing is typically commissioned per assembly type rather than per product. Build the cost of at least one full assembly test into your first 12 months, even if you plan to sell primarily into commercial fit-out rather than residential construction.
European Union
The EU (and UK, for domestically specified products) use the Euroclass fire classification system under EN 13501-1, rated A1 through F. For organic fibre-based acoustic panels β PET felt, foam, most fabric-faced products β Class B-s1,d0 is the realistic ceiling and is sufficient for the large majority of commercial specifications (offices, retail, hospitality).
